Judging Process

There will be two rounds of judging. The first round of judging will be held from Oct. 27 - Nov. 3 that the Awards Committee will provide each judge with a package of entrant materials for scoring at home. The six to eight highest-scoring entries will be selected into a shortlist of entering the second round of judging.

In the second round of judging, which is scheduled for Nov. 26-27, the members of the judge panel will gather together to determine the category winners -Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit. However, Best of Show winner will be selected among the Gold Category winners.

The Judge panel will ensure each entry is evaluated on its own merit, concept and execution, regardless of culture or point of origin.

Judge will abstain from voting on works entered from their immediate agencies as well as works they do not understand because of cultural differences.

Norman Tan

Stepped into advertising industry since 1982, Norman used to work in Leo Burnett Singapore, Grey Singapore. From 1997 to 1999 as Executive Creative Director in JWT Taiwan, he led the agency to the best performance ever in 10 years’ establishment within the agency, and won the best agency in Asia among all the JWT branches. Of course, the artworks were also recognized by many international awards, outnumbered any agencies in Taiwan. As a result, “Norman phenomenon” was becoming well known. In 2001, he guided the creative department to gain the dealership for the worldwide Standard Chartered Bank.
Norman has won over 200 awards both nationally and internationally, including D&AD, Cannes, New York Festival, London International, Australian Awards, Adfest Asia Awards, Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, Asia Media Awards, Times Asia Pacific Awards, Times International Chinese Awards, Longxi Awards, Singapore & Taiwan’s 4A’s Awards.
Also, he is a member of High Potential Club in WPP group. Because of the abundant experience, Norman is often invited to be the jury of 4A HK, Media, Taiwan News and Longxi Awards. Besides, he is a columnist for Taiwan News, Advertising Magazine in Taiwan, and International Advertising in China.

Born and grew up in Taiwan, David immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 14. After graduated with a degree in Advertising/Illustration, the prestigious Art Center in Pasadena discontinues his major. A year later, against all advice, he headed to London to look for a job as an agency art director, and somehow ended up with a small agency that turned out to be the Agency of The Year in 1993: Hedger Mitchell Stark. For the next seven years, he worked for agencies from London to New York to San Francisco. In 1990,he got a chance to direct three low budget commercials that ended up with a Gold and a Bronze Lion at Cannes, along with the Best International Campaign at the Clio Awards. In 2000, David Kung gave up directing to design and teach a course on Advertising&Creativity.

Jeremy Perrott

Started at Saatchi Australia as an art director, then Jeremy Perrott left for London in 1984 Joined McCann London. After this, Perrott has experienced diverse cultures in New York, Korea, Sydney, and now recently relocated to Tokyo Japan as Executive Creative Director and Regional ECD. Because of the many countries and types of advertising, he has been able to see and work with different perspective.
He has won a number of awards over the years including runner up to the US`s Ad Age international agency of the year; a Gold Mobius for Nestle; two Crestas, Golden Eagle and Silver Lion at Cannes last year.
Jeremy Perrott believes the art of advertising and the passion to make great communication is universal. What means an excellent ad to him? The criteria for it is engaging and insight driven. Then it will relate a consumer with its simple message.

Masako Okamura

"Advertising can do things that politics or other systems can't." Fifteen years ago, a reckless girl, Masako Okamura, believes so. Now, Masako Okamura is the Dentsu's youngest Creative Director and the only woman to hold such a position in Japan's largest advertising company.
Prior to working as a copywriter, Masako worked for five years in Dentsu's Public Relations division. The experience has helped her to create effective campaigns despite strict budgets.
Masako has won major international creative awards, including Clio, Cresta, Festival Mundial Publicidado Gramado, IBA, London International awards, NY Festival, The Eagle Awards, and the Taiwan Times Asia Pacific Awards. Particularly successful were her public service ads for the Ad Council (in Japan and the USA). Other works included campaigns for Toyota, Apple, Mitsubishi-Tokyo Financial Group, and Toshiba for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Recently, as a daring Creative Director, Masako has been crafting campaigns for Shiseido, Suntory, Casio, Liberal Democratic Party (Jiminto) and The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association.

Sonal Dabral

Originally from India, Sonal became CD of Ogilvy Bombay in 1995 and led the agency to its very first finalist at Cannes. Ogilvy soon became the no.1 creative agency in India and garnered major international and national awards.
In 1999, Sonal came to Malaysia as the ECD of Ogilvy & Mather. Since his arrival in Ogilvy Malaysia, the agency is consistently winning at national and international award shows like Adfest, Media, Cannes, The Clio and the D&AD. In the year 2000 a television spot that Sonal had written went on to win the Best of the Best at the Media awards. In 2001, Ogilvy won Malaysia's first ever One Show gold.
In December 2001 Sonal was asked to take over as the MD of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising.

Started at Ogilvy HK, then became successful at JWT Shanghai after 1996. In addition to keep wining awards from Cannes, New York advertising, Clio, 4A, and Times AP Ad Awards, he is frequently enlisted in the judge panel for world-famous advertising awards.
At JWT Shanghai, Lo Sheung Yan has a list of well-known clients, including Nike, De Beers, Uniliver, Pepsi, Simens etc. In advance of entering JWT, he was an editor for "Longyin Review", which collects excellent Chinese advertising seasonally.
Lo Sheung Yan believes that the overwhelming joy and achievements come from boosting the clients by forming a permanent belief. "Whenever you sell your idea in the market and eventually the idea works out. The delight of the response you received is more than you got a 13 months salary."

Thailand Jureeporn Thaidumrong has 15 years of extensive experience in advertising business. She is one of Thailand's leading creative youngbloods with an impressive track record at Leo Burnett, DY&R, and Results Advertising Bangkok. Moreover, she won awards at numerous international and regional shows, including TACT and BAD Awards (local awards). As a result, Jureeporn Thaidumrong had been invited as a judge in various advertising awards, including Clio, AdAsia, Cannes Lions and British Design & Art Direction.

Ellain Li

Started in Ogilvy & Mather in Shanghai, Ellain Li was the first Mainland China native to be the creative director in Ogilvy & Mather. Later, she joined Shanghai Advertising to be creative supervisor and became vice general manager this May.
Besides numerous clients she served, her artwork is highly recognized by Media Asia Advertising, Silver Times Awards etc. Ellain Li is a judge in the judge panel in China Advertising Festival, a columnist for "China Advertising", "International Advertising."

Sheena Jeng

“I do everything without determination except advertising.” Sheena described herself this way. Graduated from Department of Plant Pathology with a master degree, stepped into advertising industry because of a part-time job in an agency. After working years in creative department, she turned to be the manager. With numerous both national and international awards she received, Sheena is also often invited to be the judge panel for advertising awards such as 4A, Asia-Pacific Advertising Festival, Times Advertising Awards and so on. In 2001, she was the only speaker from Taipei to give speeches in AdAsia Taipei Festival. Sheena believes that the achievement of marketing is the most important thing in advertising. Therefore, the criterion for good advertisements is that they must be rooted in marketing strategy rather than the fancy execution of the ads.

Dirk Eschenbacher

Dirk is an old time Internet enthusiast. His first website project dates back to late 1994, the time Netscape Navigator 2 was the browser of choice. Ever since he gained experience with projects as diverse as corporate and branding websites, e-commerce portals, travel and sport websites, kiosk systems and CD ROM applications.
After his graduation he joined WOB AG, Germany's first advertising agency to go public. He helped build its interactive unit, which soon started to build brand experiences and customer relationship sites for the mobile and network industry and the insurance and retail sector.
Dirk left Germany in 1998 to pursue his own plans in Thailand. He successfully built and managed an online travel portal and continued to work closely on many other projects with agencies in Thailand, Germany and Taiwan.
In 2001 he joined OgilvyInteractive Beijing as creative director. In this role he develops award winning creative strategies, concepts and ideas for clients such as Motorola, Audi, IBM, Cisco and China Mobile.
